Guardianship & Conservatorship

For more than 12 years, Decades has provided trusted professional guardianship and conservatorship services. When an elder or developmentally disabled adult is no longer able to make financial or medical decisions, the court may assign a guardian to protect that individual.

Guardianship

Guardianship is appointed for an individual who has been determined by a court to lack the capacity to make personal care decisions. Decades’ team of experienced guardians make decisions related to:

  • Medical treatment

  • Living situation

  • Care needs

  • End-of-life

Conservatorship

A conservatorship is also established by the courts. A conservator is appointed to manage and protect the financial interests and assets of an individual who has been determined by the court to lack the capacity to make their own financial decisions. Incapacitated individuals who did not previously establish a Durable Power of Attorney may require a conservator.
